Why these project types

CMS migrations
OptiTrack's site moved in phases, with the old and new sites running in parallel and content migrated from its legacy structure, per MUTON's and Notum's case studies.

Sources, checked 30 September 2026

  1. Listed on the agency's Payload partner profile

MUTON's Payload partner profile lists one project under 'Built with Payload': OptiTrack, dated 2026, linking to optitrack.com.

    OptiTrack, 2026 · payloadcms.com (source) ↗

Limits: Profile content is supplied by the agency; the listing links the live site but does not describe the scope of work. optitrack.com returned HTTP 429 to scripted requests, so the live site's stack was not checked.

  2. Agency case study that names Payload

MUTON's own OptiTrack case study names Payload as the content and admin layer in a phased rebuild that ran old and new sites side by side, with commerce and ERP/CRM systems integrated behind it.

    OptiTrack, 2026 · muton.agency (source) ↗

Limits: Agency-published. The MUTON homepage dates the project 2025–2026; the partner profile says 2026.

  3. Agency case study that names Payload

Notum Technologies, the company named in MUTON's site footer, publishes a longer OptiTrack case study titled as a Payload CMS commerce platform, classed as a legacy CMS rewrite with ERP, CRM, payments, tax and commerce integrations.

    OptiTrack, 2026 · notum.tech (source) ↗

Limits: Same project as e1 and e2, published under the parent company's brand, so it is not independent corroboration. Outcome figures on the page are the agency's and are not repeated here.

  4. Public Payload code

A pull request fixing duplicated array items when copy-pasting blocks in the Payload admin was merged into payloadcms/payload main on 13 March 2026; it is listed under Contributions on MUTON's partner profile and on MUTON's homepage.

    github.com (source) ↗

Limits: One small merged fix. The author's GitHub profile names Notum, MUTON's operating company. A second listed pull request (#15389) is still open.

  5. Statement on the agency's own site or profile

MUTON's homepage describes its service as rebuilding corporate websites end to end on Payload and Next.js, and presents itself as a 'Payload Enterprise Partner'.

    muton.agency (source) ↗

Limits: Self-description. 'Payload Enterprise Partner' is MUTON's wording; the payloadcms.com directory shows no Enterprise tier label on the profile.

  6. Statement on the agency's own site or profile

MUTON's homepage lists a Swiss long-term collaboration (2022-2026) in which it says it migrated multiple projects from other CMSs to Payload, with the case study marked as coming soon.

Limits: No client, project or case study is named; the page says 'Case study coming soon'. Not publicly verified.

UPDOT

Bengaluru, India

Listings platforms and custom products with Payload administration.

Selected work Aus Wide Car Wash Sale · Kumms

Agency details for UPDOT

UPDOT's published work shows Payload used in different parts of a product. For Aus Wide Car Wash Sale, it supports a specialised listings website built with Next.js. For Kumms, Payload supplies the admin panel alongside a separate Node.js application backend and subscription system. That distinction is useful when comparing teams for a project that extends beyond website publishing.

Five checks before you pick an agency

Use these questions when reviewing proposals and meeting potential partners.

  • Ask for the project closest to yours

Filter by project type, then ask each agency on your shortlist for one project of the same kind and a look at its Payload admin. A strong record on marketing sites says little about a membership platform with payments.

  • Check which Payload version they build on

Payload 3 runs inside a Next.js app, and some of the work published here predates it. If you are starting a new build, ask for recent Payload 3 examples.

  • Find out who did the work

Payload's case studies name one partner per project. Ask who from that team would work on yours, and which parts, if any, would go to subcontractors.

  • Get the migration plan in writing

For a replatform, ask how content, media and redirects will move, how the result will be checked, and whether the old and new sites will run side by side during the switch.

  • Agree what you own at handover

Agree ownership of the custom code and control of the repository and hosting accounts. List third-party and open-source dependencies, their licences, costs and maintenance responsibilities, including plugins the agency maintains. Make sure your next team can run and maintain the site.
